Engineering and Design Loop-Looking forward with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) (K - 8th)

 

Building on the tremendous success of the Kindergarten “Introduction to Engineering Design” grant awarded to the K teachers at Hillside last year, this grant extends that work to all grades in both schools. The NGSS are fully implemented in grades 6th - 8th in the 2016-2017 school year and are state mandated for grades K-5 in 2017-2018. The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) visits both Hillside and Brookside to work with teachers piloting NGSS units (K-5) and implementing NGSS units (6-8). This ensures that units with true engineering and design tasks fully align with the NGSS.
