high touch high tech - weather or not


The Weather or Not assembly thrilled our first graders at Hillside School.  The presenters did a wonderful job of building on the students’ prior knowledge and weather experiences.  By using numerous hands on experiments the children explored concepts such as thunder, lightning, clouds, tornadoes and wind.  Every student was invited to touch and manipulate the “lightning globe.”   The first graders also explored vortex soda bottles so they could see how funnel clouds work.  The children were as enthusiastic as the instructor and it was obvious that everyone had a wonderful time and learned a lot about weather.
