Colonial Life Interactive Theatre
On Tuesday, November 17th the Hillside School second graders had a chance to experience the life of a servant in 1730 America through a one-act play by Kitty Jones. The play depicted the life of Kattie Cotswold, a servant trying to complete her chores in order to attend the Colonial Fair. Throughout the show, the students and teachers were asked to play parts, using costumes and props to depict the story. The story helped the children to understand the colonial chores of dying fabrics and making wool. It also taught the children several colonial games including a maypole dance. Ms. Jones’ enthusiastic performance ensured that the audience not only has a fun time, but also learned important facts about the life of a young woman in 1730 America.
