One School One Book-Read-A-Thon (1st - 3rd)
Read to Them (RTT) One School, One Book is a family literacy program that enables us to create a school-wide book club. Every first through third grade student, teacher and family will read the same book, “The World According to Humphrey” at the same time. Families would be expected to read a chapter an evening with an expectation that in school the next day, student and teachers would collectively celebrate and explore the book through dialogue, questioning and activities. Read to Them would provide us with materials to explain the program to teachers and families including communications to be sent home, trivia questions for in school use, suggested activities for home and/or school and assembly ideas to launch the project. The overall program should take up to four weeks to complete.
